So apparently, this part of Pollo Campero isn't that great after all. It's right near Langley Park, one of the shittest cities I've ever been to in Maryland. At least when I was here, it was fine, but I'm giving it lower stars because of its distance to Langley Park. I do not want to be around Langley Park. The food was good here though.

They remodeled this location recently so it looks very friendly inside. I got the half chicken (2 fried pieces and 1 grilled) special with the plantains and fries. Fries were just fries and plantains were real sweet but the grilled part of the half chicken was the best part. They marinate it with some lime so it's real tangy and juicy. Fried chicken is suppose to be their poster boy although, for me, the grilled chicken really showed up. Still a fast food place so it's a great alternative to other chicken joints. I'm choosing this over Popeyes and KFC.

Pollo Campero is a fast food place that serves some decent food at cheap prices. My husband had Campero beans with an empanada while I had chicken nuggets (shared with my husband), plantains, yucca fries, tres leches cake, and a Jamaica chilled hibiscus drink. I only took a few bites of the tres leches cake (due to being pretty full) and my only taste caveat was with the plantains (ended up not eating those as well). However, I enjoyed the rest of the food that my husband and I ordered made it worthwhile.

This place is bomb. Best beans i have ever tasted in my life ("campero beans") and the fried chicken is unreal. Basically a latin version of popeyes. If you get some sauce from don pollo or chicken rico nearby and dip campero chicken in it you will experience a chicken orgasm. Kind of expensive considering you gotta get at least a half chicken. Its too damn addictive to order anything less. Also tough ordering in english sometimes. doesn't matter, chicken and beans are too damn good to not give the place 5 stars.

Probably one of the best latin chicky you will ever have. I first heard of Campero from a Salvadorenan friend who always commented of the many latinos bringing into the airplanes ridiculous amounts of chicken on board and having the plane smell like the chicken. Well, when the first campero opened close to 7 Corners VA, (where there is a high population of latinos), the lines were so long for weeks that I waited a couple of months to go and check the place out. At last I was hooked!! I must say Popeyes, KFC do not compare. It is definitively better if eaten hot in the establishment!!

This is a restaurant chain that was started in central america that has come to the area a few years back. Those who try to compare it to kfc o any other fried chicken joint are trying to compare apples to oranges. I know in el salvador (I assume in other central american countries) pollo campero actually is associated with or owns the farms that raises the chickens so you know its fresh. A lot of people actually bring pollo campero food back when they go to el salvador because it is that much better that they prefer to re-heat food from there than buy it here. It sounds crazy but I know people that actually have done that. As for pollo campero... It's greasy but I think good. There are some variants but mainly you choose your chicken meal and depending on the amount you buy you select a number of sides. One of the side options is french fries but I would recommend tradional sides like rice, beans, fried yuca (which is better than french fries), or platanos. Your meal comes with tortillas and you can help yourself to salsa that is set out by the napkins and forks. I would reccomend a maranon or horchata to go along with your meal instead of the normal cola or ice tea products. I must say I have never traveled to a pollo campero in central America so I can't speak from experience but I know a lot of natives from those countries that have very mixed opinions of pollo campero. Many say it sucks here in the U.S. as they say the chicken is much fattier and greasy. Also, they say that the sides are dryer, less flavorful ect. Some of these people simply avoid pollo campero and perfer other chicken joints. (Spanish as well as non such as Popeyes). That all said, this Pollo Campero has survived for many years and everytime I have gone in (which has been numerous times over the years) the restaurant has been relatively busy. This shows that not everyone feels that way. Now I believe the above stated is relavent and worth noting but as for the visitor to Langley Park who feels inclined to give Campero a try I'd say do it. I think many natives of Latin America suffer from the "nothings as good as the origional" outlook on Pollo Campero, similar to how I and others feel that no Ledos pizza ever came close to the origional (was located about a mile away until it was moved). I have tried the locations in Wheaton, Laurel, Columbia Heights, as well as Lake Forest mall in Gaithersburg. I will say Langley Park is the best with Wheaton as a close second. I honestly wouldn't bother with the others. The Megamart, which is generally accepted as the biggest international (mainly Latin American) grocery store chain, from time to time gives out Pollo Campero coupons. The most common is something like 8 pieces of chicken free with the purchase of 2 family sides. This basically equates to half off a 8 piece family combo. Another coupon is for 8 free legs. I'm sure there have been other coupons those are the 2 I have seen. I feel that the quality of food here is sometimes hit or miss. Overall decent but I feel like it was better in it's earlier days. I think 3 stars is fair. I certainly would suggust trying it but I notice I have gone to Pollo Campero less and less over the years.

I have no idea what u all talk about....there is no comparison with Pollo campero here and the Central America version....this is not good and coleslaw is not even close to what it is served in our countries. But I understand that you guys only have much reference to what u have eaten here in this country and probably just a few times if u ever had the chance to go to CA....but me I've lived there all my life and after I tried this Pollo campero here (witch believe me when I say that I was soooooo excited) I just got a huge disappointment and thought of how much of a bad name this company is getting here with the food they sell ....this place has just become generic to me just like any other big chain restaurant

Oh, lawd. Homeboy had been telling me that this is the best fast food fried chicken he's ever had, and that I had to try it. I listened to him rave about it for an entire year, and rant about how in San Francisco, there is a dearth of decent fried chicken. Finally, I visited him in Maryland, and he ordered the 20-piece bucket of fried chicken. Of course, I thought he was being ridiculous and was ordering waaaay too much food. And then we each ate 6 or 7 pieces of chicken, which should tell you that it kind of kicked ass... I am disgusting and gluttonous, but at least that was pretty much ALL I ate that day.

This is the first time that I've been to a Pollo Campero outside of Central America. It's somewhat odd in that all of the signs are in English, and yet everyone speaks Spanish. The fried chicken is very good, even if the wait is rather long for a fast food place.

The food is really good, especially the chicken, seasoned well and fried hard. The sides aren't anything to write home about I've only tried the fries, hoping to try the plantains in the future. Looking forward to giving their bowl a try also. The guava juice was spectacular. Only complaints are their staff seems almost annoyed at non-Spanish speakers, as though it's an inconvenience for them to have to take your order in English. Also the number of beggars loitering inside asking for money & food was extremely uncomfortable. I watched one man literally watch a couple eat and all but reached into their plates asking for whatever they possibly wouldn't finished.

I have a very bad experience in that place, I sent a compliant by pollocampero.com and they never answer to me. I don't visit again this place, very bad costumer service.

This place is amazing. From the moment you walk in the restaurant you are overwhelmed by a sense of warmth and welcome. The staff here are professional, courteous, and provide you great customer service. This place has been recently renovated and looks amazing. Their citrus grilled chicken is amazing and a must have. Definitely stop by and give this place a try.

Guatemalan chicken? Si. It became so popular in El Salvador that one store grew to world wide proportions, including ten in the DMV, It's deeply marinated, then either grilled or the original fried, with a crust that's crunchy but not overloaded with breading and overwhelming seasoning. Service is a bit of a hybrid - you order and pay at the counter and are given a number on a stand, then moments later a runner delivers the goodies. The sides stand out too - al dente sweet fried plantains and the best black beans I've had around here since Casa Baez closed in the 70's. When I complimented the manager on them, he told me their signature pinto beans were even better. Next time. Latino beverages such and horchata and tamarind are available as well the the expected soda fountain. And the quatro leches desert will addict anyone with a sweet tooth. Negatives? Expect a line at mealtime or when a futbol game is on TV. Ole!

Worse service ever , they took over 45 minutes to bring 2 pieces of chicken to my table, that I paid almost $13.00 . definitely I'm not coming back again .

Arrived at 9:27 PM and was turned away, although there were people still in the lobby eating and one person with a laptop out, they said they closed the lobby at 9 pm. Their website as well as their signage on the windows and doors say 10 pm. The person said that's only for drive-thru. Beware, if looking for a late dinner... Do not come here. Or come expecting to go home and eat.
